The Blackhawks acquired veteran center Brendan Morrison in the Calgary Flames on Friday in return for minor-league defenseman John Connelly.

Morrison, 36, has four goals and 11 points in 28 games for that Flames this year - he came back towards the selection on Saturday after missing two days by having an upper-body injuries. The Hawks is going to be his seventh NHL team since entering the League with Nj, which required him within the second round from the 1993 NHL Draft. He performed four seasons in the College of Michigan before joining the Demons in 1997.

Morrison has 200 goals, 401 assists and 446 penalty minutes in 923 regular-season games -- he obtained his 200th NHL goal on Jan. 1. His best NHL season arrived 2002-03, as he had 25 goals and 71 points for that Vancouver Canucks.

Connelly, 25, has performed with Chicago's AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs, after signing using the Hawks early in the year of 2009 following three seasons at Colorado College. The Five-feet-11, 185-pound native of Bloomington, Minn., set franchise record for scoring with a defenseman last season with 11 goals and 41 assists for 51 points he'd five goals and 31 assists in 44 games with Rockford this year and was selected to participate in the AHL All-Star Game.

"Once we forecasted our line-up moving forward we felt it would be a challenge for all of us to locate a place for Brendan or get him significant ice-time," Flames GM Jay Feaster. "Given his pending UFA status cheap i was not likely to re-sign him, we felt it important to try and move him for an additional resource. In John Connelly we have a 25-year-old highly trained AHL All-Star defenseman who's still the best prospect. We're excited to possess John within the organization."
